Idea Explorer for Senior Living

What does this chatbot do?

This chatbot, named Idea Explorer for Senior Living, helps operators of senior living communities and tech startups evaluate technology-based innovation ideas. It guides users through assessing four key readiness levels: Market Readiness Level (MRL), Technology Readiness Level (TRL), Business Readiness Level (BRL), and Operations Readiness Level (ORL).

The chatbot's process involves:

  1. Market Readiness Level (MRL): Assesses internal market demand or "pull" for the idea.

  2. Technology Readiness Level (TRL): Evaluates the solution's and vendor's availability and readiness.

  3. Business Readiness Level (BRL): Measures the strategic alignment and willingness to fund the idea.

  4. Operations Readiness Level (ORL): Looks at operational capability and capacity to implement the idea.

The chatbot asks targeted questions to gather insights specific to the user's context. Based on the responses, it assigns scores each readiness level, offering a detailed analysis. This helps the user decide whether to explore, invest in, or implement the idea further.

A score of 7 or greater in a readiness level is considered good, and indicates sufficient maturity of the idea to explore further or consider next steps.

A score of less than 7 in a readiness level suggests more information is required or the timing of the idea is not quite right. The user is encouraged to dig deeper in these areas.

Finally, the chatbot can summarize the exploration, reasons for the scores, and suggestions for improvement and next steps.

Privacy: At the end of the exploration process in the chat, the user may be asked to send a summary of their chat to AgeTech Labs for trend analysis. The summary does not contain any user information and is fully anonymized. The information is used by AgeTech Labs to identify trending topics in order to provide feedback to the industry and to inform product development, ultimately with the goal of optimizing product-market fit for operators and innovators.

How does the chatbot work?

The chatbot works through a structured process designed to evaluate technology-based innovation ideas for senior living facilities. Here's a step-by-step overview of how it operates:

  1. Idea Introduction:

    • The user introduces an innovation idea they want to explore.

    • The bot provides a brief description of the evaluation process and readiness levels.

  2. Readiness Level Exploration:

    • The bot guides the user through an evaluation of four readiness levels:

      • Market Readiness Level (MRL): Examines the internal market demand for the idea.

      • Technology Readiness Level (TRL): Assesses the solution's availability and technological maturity.

      • Business Readiness Level (BRL): Evaluates strategic alignment and financial viability.

      • Operations Readiness Level (ORL): Looks at operational capacity and readiness for implementation.

    • For each level, the bot asks targeted questions to gather insights about the user’s specific context.

  3. Targeted Questions:

    • The bot asks questions relevant to each readiness level to understand the user’s situation, needs, and the potential impact of the innovation.

    • Examples of questions include:

      • MRL: "What is the current demand for this solution within your facility?"

      • TRL: "Is there a proven technology available to implement this idea?"

      • BRL: "Does this idea align with your facility's strategic goals and budget?"

      • ORL: "Do you have the operational capacity to integrate this solution?"

  4. Scoring:

    • Based on the responses, the bot assigns a score from 9 to 1 for each readiness level.

      • 9: Optimal readiness

      • 8: Advanced readiness

      • 7: Strong readiness

      • 6: Moderate readiness

      • 5: Initial readiness

      • 4: Early development

      • 3: Conceptual stage

      • 2: Preliminary stage

      • 1: Not started

  5. Feedback and Recommendations:

    • The bot provides feedback on the current state of readiness for each level.

    • It offers suggestions to improve the score and readiness, such as areas needing further research, potential adjustments to strategic planning, or enhancing operational capabilities.

  6. Summary and Next Steps:

    • Once all readiness levels are evaluated, the bot asks if the user is ready to summarize or if they want to explore more.

    • The bot summarizes the idea exploration in a tabulated format, including:

      • Name of the idea

      • Description

      • Readiness level scores

      • Main reasons for each score

      • Suggestions for improving each score

      • Recommendations for next steps or further exploration

This structured approach ensures a comprehensive evaluation of innovation ideas, tailored to the specific context and needs of the senior living facility, facilitating informed decision-making about further investment and implementation.

Readiness Level Scoring

Each readiness level is scored based on specific criteria related to that RL, though here is a general description of each level:

  • 9 - Optimal Readiness: All aspects fully optimized; highest readiness achieved.

  • 8 - Advanced Readiness: Close to optimal with minor improvements possible.

  • 7 - Strong Readiness: Solid foundation with clear direction and strategy.

  • 6 - Moderate Readiness: Moderate preparation with additional development needed.

  • 5 - Initial Readiness: Preliminary plans in place; beginning of readiness journey.

  • 4 - Early Development: Early stages of development with direction established.

  • 3 - Conceptual Stage: Focus on defining potential.

  • 2 - Preliminary Stage: Minimal progress towards readiness; early identification phase.

  • 1 - Not Started: Starting point; no readiness efforts or progress made.
